Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services.

The Alfred Hospital Intensive Care Unit is one of Australia’s leading Intensive Care Units admitting about 3500 patients pa.

It is a university attached quaternary referral centre, providing State Services for heart & lung transplantation (including paediatric lung transplantation), artificial heart technology, extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), burns and hyperbaric medicine. It also provides Victoria’s Adult Cystic Fibrosis and Pulmonary Hypertension services. The Alfred is one of two centres providing state services for adult trauma, HIV, bone marrow transplantation (autologous and allogeneic) and CAR T-cell therapy.

Alfred Health is seeking applications from Specialists in Intensive Care Medicine. Permanent and 12-month locum positions are available.  

Our preferred candidate must possess the following experience and attributes:

  • Be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Fellow of The College of Intensive Care Medicine
  • Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Intensive Care Medicine
  • Meeting Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Intensive Care Medicine.
  • Outstanding communication skills, including well-developed conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to liaise well with other staff at all levels
  • Demonstrated flexibility in problem solving and the capability to develop and sustain highly collaborative relationships with others/ other teams.
