We have more than 15 main sites, including hospitals, centres and clinics that provide comprehensive care from welcoming newborns to supporting older people and a full range of services in between. More than 22,000 dedicated staff are focused on providing exceptional, equitable, and locally connected care through shared expertise, compassion, and a commitment to continuous growth. Education and training are central to staff development as we encourage all employees to strive and thrive. Bayside Health was formed following the merger of Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health on 1 January 2026.

About the Unit

Applications are open for a position as a fractional psychiatrist 16 hours per week, within the Psychological Trauma Service (PTS) at Alfred Care Group.  This position will be commencing in July 2026.

The PTS is an initiative within Alfred Mental and Addiction Health (AMAH) program. The service delivers treatment and support to individuals from the age of 26 years and their families, carers and supporters who experience trauma related psychological distress or personality challenges. The service operates with an interdisciplinary model, including the embedding of peer workers. The service offers specialist psychological treatments in addition to other interventions with the emphasis on flexible and holistic responses. The Consultant Psychiatrist will work in partnership with the psychologist clinical lead and will also supervise a 0.5 registrar. The Consultant Psychiatrist role includes delivery of primary and secondary consultation, treatment and building capacity within AMAH in the context of personality and trauma-related mental health presentations and the delivery of trauma-informed care more broadly.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Applicants must be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with AHPRA and a Fellow of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. They must be accredited RANZCP supervisors, demonstrate relevant knowledge and experience in mental health care and meet Alfred Care Group requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Psychiatry.
