We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services. On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

The Department
Alfred Health's Occupational Therapy Services operates across The Alfred, Caulfield, and Sandringham Hospitals, with clinical services aligned to Alfred Health's strategic goals and operational performance targets.
The Occupational Therapy Service is committed to the provision of high quality, evidence-based care, and strongly values professional development and clinical supervision. Clinical service provision is focused on inpatient and home-based acute, rehabilitation and aged care streams, for diverse patient populations including emergency, general medicine, surgical, orthopaedic, neurological, trauma, spinal, amputee and burns/plastics specialty units.
The Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Grade 1 Occupational Therapist to become a valued member of our welcoming and supportive team at Alfred Health. They will be responsible for the provision of Occupational Therapy Services within a designated clinical caseload, appropriate to their level of experience and competency. The successful applicant will work closely with the multidisciplinary team and provide high-quality Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention to patients. This role offers a valuable and unique opportunity to gain clinical experience in a range of settings and clinical areas/settings and first-hand exposure to a patient's journey through the entire continuum of care. The Alfred Health Occupational Therapy rotations are across a range of clinical areas in:
- Acute (general medicine, orthopaedics, neurotrauma, medical specialties, general surgery)
- Subacute (neuro, spinal, acquired brain injury, aged care)
- Community/home-based settings
At Alfred Health's Occupational Therapy Service, we offer regular clinical supervision and avenues for continuous professional development, ensuring a dynamic and fulfilling career path for our dedicated therapists. At Alfred Health, the Occupational Therapy service delivers a seven-day model of care and the incumbent in this role may be required to assist with weekend service provision on a periodic basis.
Skills/Qualifications/Experience Required
- B. App Sc (OT), B. Occupational Therapy, MOT prac or recognised equivalent.
- Full Registration held with Occupational Therapy Board of Australia at time of application
- Recent experience working in acute or subacute inpatient services (either working experience or on placement)
