The Department

Bayside Health (Alfred Care Group) are expanding the Community Youth Forensic Mental Health Service (CFYMHS). 

The expanded service will extend existing consultation services as well as provide direct service to children and young adults in Eastern Victoria.  The program will focus on early intervention with children and young people with offending behaviours to divert and enable alternative life trajectories.  The team will also work with interagency care teams, families and care networks to better co-ordinate and address causal factors that lead to offending behaviour.  The team will be co-located with the ICYAMHWS service at Moorabbin and some outreach travel to locations across Eastern Victoria, both metropolitan and rural will be required.

Clinical Psychology, Neuropsychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, and Lived Experience Family Specialist roles are being recruited to ensure development of multidisciplinary community based forensic mental health services for children and youth.

The Role

In this role, you will provide comprehensive neuropsychologist assessment, formulation, advice on intervention, and direct delivery of some specified clinical services to young people with complex emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties co-occurring with forensic behaviours and their families.

The role will also support a responsive effective intake system within Bayside Health Community Forensic Youth Mental Health Services. A key emphasis will be to expand service capacity to intervene early and prevent escalation of offending behaviours. This may also occur through assistance with service development, education, and/or primary and secondary consultation. An approach that builds on existing care networks and family connections, cultural considerations and the role that Lived experience workforce and mentors can offer, is required. 

Experience and Qualifications Required

• Approved tertiary qualifications
• Registration with the Psychology Board via AHPRA as a psychologist under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act (2009).
• Practice endorsement as a clinical neuropsychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
• Registration to practice as a supervisor with AHPRA
• Minimum of 5 years’ clinical experience post completion of post graduate training.
• Experience in working with children, young people and families with co-occurring mental health offending and AOD issues and relevant stakeholders to support early intervention to prevent and manage offending behaviours through early teens and emerging adulthood.
• Experience providing mental health, forensic and/or Alcohol and other Drug assessment and intervention in partnership with young people and families
• Experience working with community agencies and ability to liaise with other service providers
• Australian working rights
• Current Influenza vaccination
• Be willing to complete a background check & have a satisfactory Working with Children Check
