The Department

Alfred Mental & Addiction Health is responsible for the operation of services which focus on people with a mental illness residing in the Inner Southeastern area of Melbourne.

The Role

The Adult and Older Adult Service combines AMAH Adult/Older Adult Community Mental Health and Caulfield Aged and Liaison Psychiatry Services to provide comprehensive, person-centred support for adults and older adults. We offer a wide range of therapeutic, addiction, trauma-informed, and family violence services.In line with the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health recommendations and the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022, we are expanding our services to provide specialized expertise and broad-spectrum care, including pathways for substance use, rehabilitation, recovery, and trauma-focused care.

Our approach focuses on integrated treatment, education, peer support, care planning, and navigation, supporting individuals at every stage of their recovery journey.

The Mobile Aged Psychiatry Service (MAPS) is based at St Kilda Rd Clinic and consists of an inter-disciplinary team which undertakes primary functions of community-based assessment, treatment and case management of older persons with mental health problems living in the Inner Southeast region of Melbourne.

MAPS also provides a psychiatric Consultation & Liaison service to patients at Caulfield Hospital Transitional Care Program (TCP) facilities, based upon referrals. 

About you

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board via AHPRA as a registered nurse (without restriction).
  • Post graduate qualifications in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
  • Four years’ experience post registration, to include clinical experience in acute psychiatric setting(s), and at least two years community psychiatric nursing experience.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s License (without restriction).
  • Australian working rights and current Influenza vaccination
