The Department
headspace Early Psychosis, established in 2011, is an accessible youth and family friendly mental health service for young people (12-25) struggling with hearing voices and unusual beliefs. It builds on individual strengths and resilience, uses the wisdom of lived and living experience and fosters hope, potential and recovery. headspace Early Psychosis operates in five headspace centres across the Southern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne. Four regional Community Care Teams (CCTs) are based in Bentleigh, Frankston, Dandenong and Narre Warren. The service also includes a Mobile Assessment and Treatment Team (MATT) and a centre-based Recovery Program (RC) to serve the whole of the Southern Metropolitan region.
The Role
This position is 0.3 EFT (3 days/fortnight) to 26th March 2027), and is located at the headspace Bentleigh Hub, with potential placement at either the Dandenong, Narre Warren or Frankston Spokes.
The successful applicant will collaborate with the headspace Early Psychosis multi-disciplinary teams to support the developmental assessment, subsequent formulation and management of young people with autism spectrum disorder.
This position may also provide discipline specific consultation, assessment and/or brief intervention to young people accessing headspace Early Psychosis and headspace Elsternwick.
Experience and Qualifications Required
- Help co-ordinate and provide clinical assessment and input to clients with a range of neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorder, in a culture that emphasises family involvement.
- Actively contribute to mental health and neurodevelopmental assessment, formulation, diagnosis and management by providing discipline specific assessment, intervention and consultation.
- Actively consult with Young People and families with Lived Experience on processes for assessment, intervention and evaluation to maximise engagement of families and young people in assessment and intervention processes.
- Current registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia via AHPRA to practice with the National Board. Current Victorian Drivers Licence, WWCC and Police check will be also required.
- Skills and experience as evidenced by 2 or more years post qualifying experience within Mental Health Services, paediatric and/or adolescent experience.
