Applications are invited for the position of Specialist in General Medicine (Casual) at Alfred Health to assist with providing leave backfill to the unit.

The successful applicant(s) will contribute to all aspects of General Medicine clinical service which includes acute inpatients at all three campuses of Alfred Health, Integrated Care (Gen Med Community outreach) and Consultation and Peri-operative Medicine. 

The service growth for Alfred Health in 2022 and beyond is in developing the pathways to step up and step down acute care in the community in partnership with patients and primary care providers.  We aspire to de-institutionalise acute care for chronic disease. General Physicians with experience in community based acute care, quality improvement and supervision and mentoring are strongly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Our preferred candidate must possess the following experience and attributes:

  • Appointees must be legally qualified medical practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) without conditions, undertakings or reprimands that could impact on their clinical practice
  • Fellow of the relevant college
  • Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in General Medicine
  • Meeting Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in General Medicine
  • Outstanding communication skills, including well-developed conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to liaise well with other staff at all levels
  • Demonstrated flexibility in problem solving and the capability to develop and sustain highly collaborative relationships with others/ other teams.
