The Department

The Electronic Medical Record (EMR) department sits within the CIS sub-division and is a key part of Alfred Health’s Digital Health Division. It manages the performance, optimisation and support of the enterprise Clinical Information Systems including Oracle Health’s Cerner Millennium EMR, Dedalus’s i.PM Patient Administration System (PAS), and associated systems, ensuring that they effectively meet the evolving needs of clinical workflows and operational objectives. The department collaborates closely with clinical, administrative, and technical teams to deliver solutions that enhance patient outcomes, streamline processes, and improve system usability. 

 

The Position

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Application Specialist to join our Digital Health team at Alfred Health. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in healthcare applications who is passionate about supporting frontline clinical services through technology. You will play a pivotal role in configuring, optimising, and supporting Alfred Health’s EMR, PAS, and related systems, ensuring they meet evolving clinical and operational needs.

 

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Configure and optimise clinical and administrative applications to support end-user workflows
  • Deliver technical support and issue resolution, including participation in an on-call roster
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement meaningful system enhancements
  • Ensure rigorous testing and change control procedures are followed
  • Maintain detailed system documentation and contribute to knowledge sharing across the team
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance usability and safety

What You’ll Bring

  • A strong understanding of clinical and administrative workflows and experience supporting digital health systems
  • Technical knowledge in EMR configuration, preferably Oracle Health’s Cerner Millennium
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with diverse clinical and technical teams
  • Experience in testing, documentation, and change control processes
