The Department 

The Alfred Specialty Medicine Program with in the Operations division is comprised of six clinical units including: Clinical Genetics and Genomics, Dermatology, Endocrine and Diabetes, Gastroenterology, Renal and Rheumatology. The program provides admitted services including multiday (Ward 4WA) and Same Day Dialysis services (The Alfred, Caulfield and Sandringham campuses), and specialist outpatient and ambulatory services.
The Alfred Specialty Medicine runs a large outpatient service with a focus on multidisciplinary specialty clinics with >42,000 patient consultations per year with clinics across The Alfred, Caulfield and Sandringham campuses. The inpatient component of the program admits >22,000 patients per year across the Gastroenterology, Renal, Endocrine and Diabetes and Rheumatology. In addition, the program has world-leading research program completing the clinical services and providing access to our patients to the latest innovations in clinical care.

 

Position Summary 

Every Alfred Health nurse must practice in accordance with the Alfred Health Nursing Professional Practice Framework.
The Professional Practice Framework defines the elements of nursing practice that improve the care and experience of our patients and aligns with the Patient’s Come First Strategy.
It is comprised of five domains that are crucial to maintain standards, lead change and add value to healthcare. These domains are Care, Leadership, Professional Development, Workforce, Research and Informatics.
As a clinical nurse your practice will lead to excellence in patient care. You understand the importance of establishing a relationship between the patient and yourself in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for your patients. You demonstrate the core nursing values of patient centred care, trust and respect in every interaction with patients, carers and colleagues.
As nurse you are accountable for establishing and evaluating the patient’s plan of care in partnership with the patient, their carers and other members of the health care team. You are supported in your role as a clinical nurse by all other nursing positions.

 

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Registered as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Nursing experience in the Alfred Specialty Medicine clinical units and/or experience in provision of ambulatory nursing care
  • Current and satisfactory Police Check
  • Current and satisfactory Working With Children Check
