The Department

The Department of Cardiology provides a complete range of cardiology services covering General Cardiology, Heart Failure, Structural Heart and Arrhythmia specialities and undertakes clinical research activities in affiliation with Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute and Monash University. The Cardiovascular Medicine Department is involved in a large number of international and local clinical trials from Phase 1 first in human to Phase 3 randomised controlled trials investigating newly developed drugs and devices for clinical use in Cardiovascular medicine

The Role

The Department of Cardiology is currently offering a number of new trials in the development of novel therapies used to treat structural heart disease, an increasingly recognised cause of heart failure. This has opened up an exciting opportunity for a part-time registered nurse to become involved and extend their interest in the field of clinical trial research.

As part of this role, you will participate in the evaluation of many exciting new therapies for structural heart conditions.. Being a member of the research team, the clinical research nurse will, under supervision, have responsibility of delivering direct and indirect care associated with the studies. 

Qualifications and Experience required

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse with a passion for cardiovascular research and clinical excellence. You will bring:

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
• Diploma or Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent qualification).
• At least 5 years' experience in cardiovascular nursing.
• Experience in clinical research, including the ability to contribute to measurable research outcomes.
• Strong commitment to high-quality clinical research and continuous quality improvement.
• Excellent interpersonal, written communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Advanced organisational, project coordination, and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong computer literacy and experience managing research documentation and data.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated initiative and a proactive approach to improving systems and processes.

Desirable

• Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification.
• Experience with cannulation and venepuncture.
• Certification in the Safe Transport of Infectious Substances by Air, or willingness to obtain.
