Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) has a reputation for excellence and innovation in service delivery. The AMAH Department of Adult and Older Adult Services (AOAS) combines AMAH Adult Community Mental Health, based at 607 St Kilda Road and Older Adult Mental Health Services. 

About the Role

Alfred Mental and Addiction Health (AMAH) is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to work in its Adult Community Mental Health Team for a fixed term period until February 2027, for 24 hours per week. The position is based within our Navigations-Access and Consultation and Continuing Care Teams at 607 St Kilda Road and will provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team, supervise vocational registrars and provide specialist mental health assessment and treatment.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Our preferred candidate must possess the following experience and attributes:

  • Be legally qualified medical practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
  • Fellow of the RANZCP
  • Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Psychiatry
  • Meeting Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Psychiatry
  • Outstanding communication skills, including well-developed conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to liaise well with other staff at all levels
  • Demonstrated flexibility in problem solving and the capability to develop and sustain highly collaborative relationships with others/ other teams
  • RANZCP supervisor training and familiarity with the Competency Based Fellowship Program is highly desirable
