Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services. On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health, a newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

About Us

Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of services, which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.

The single most important goal of AMAH is to create an environment that facilitates clinical recovery, supports individual recovery efforts and strives to minimise service system barriers to the recovery process.

About the Position

The HOPS team leader has delegated responsibility for operationalising the core values of the organisation, developing and supporting excellence in clinical practice and patient care. The HOPS Team Leader co-ordinates the day to day operational and clinical activities of the team and provides leadership, clinical direction and support to team members. In addition to actively contributing to broader site-based leadership to assist in maintaining a safe and effective environment for consumers, carers, visitors and staff.  The role also includes managing a small client case load (0.5).

This position also provides leadership and oversight regarding the HOPS team partnerships with Sacred Heart Mission and Launch Southbank in conjunction with the HOPS Senior Nurse. This includes support to the HOPS Senior Nurse in coordinating and facilitating education sessions to the partner agencies, as well as providing secondary consultation, assessment and advice to agencies and individuals.

The HOPS Team Leader provides operational supervision to all staff within the team. The position will also promote and participate in clinical education and staff development, lead and actively participate in clinical review processes, quality improvement initiatives and service development activities.

About You

  • At least 4 years’ Bachelor of Occupational Therapy or Social Work
  • Bachelor Degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing OR Bachelor Degree in Nursing
  • Registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board/Occupational Therapy Board via AHPRA or eligibility for membership with AASW
  • Advanced clinical skills and experience in community mental health
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership in a senior role
  • Working towards post graduate qualifications in management highly regarded
  • Full Covid-19 and 2024 Influenza vaccinations
  • Australian working rights and be willing to undergo a Background Check
