Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

The role

Applications are invited for the position of Specialist in Respiratory Medicine (Fractional), responsible to the Director, for a 0.4 EFT (14 hours per week) position. 

The role provides clinical care to patients primarily within Respiratory Medicine and is also actively engaged in patient care, research and education.  The key objective is to provide continuity of general respiratory and sleep medicine care. The successful applicant (physician or cardiologist) will work in the pulmonary hypertension team providing outpatient consultations and support of inpatients with PHT. 

The incumbent may be required to assist in the development, implementation and audit of agreed management protocols and models of care consistent with international best practice standards across all areas within the Services, Department and with other related disciplines in the context of current professional knowledge and available resources.  The supervision of Hospital Medical Officers (HMOs), Registrars, Fellows, Locums and trainees in conjunction with the Clinical Service Head and Director may also be required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Appointees must be legally qualified medical practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) without conditions, undertakings or reprimands that could impact on their clinical practice.

• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

• Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Respiratory & Sleep Medicine.

• Pulmonary hypertension fellowship or more than 12 months experience in a pulmonary hypertension clinic is desirable.

• Meets Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Respiratory Medicine.

• Experience in teaching and an involvement in research are desirable.
