The Department
The Alfred Care Group Operations Division governs and directs the work of the Health Services’ Clinical Programs and oversees the work of more than 9000 Operations employees. The Division is led by the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and governs clinical and operational activity at The Alfred, Caulfield, & Sandringham Hospitals and number of smaller offsite clinical services.
The Role
The Deputy Director, Improvement & Innovation is tasked with advancing excellence in Alfred Care Group’s service provision via the delivery of innovative care models and continuous improvement methodologies. This dynamic individual oversees a team of Improvement Consultants and Project Officers and will direct the design and implementation of targeted initiatives across the Operations Division and where directed, the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee transformational improvement projects at a variety of scales, that boost organisational performance and enhance the delivery of excellent patient care
- Spearhead the development of a Community of Practice for quality & improvement roles across Alfred Care Group and Bayside Health, aiming to consolidate and advance the Health Service’s approach to implementing continuous improvement
- Identify and accelerate innovative opportunities to improve efficiency, access and productivity within the Operations Division

Qualifications and Experience Required
Essential
- A degree in a relevant healthcare profession, management, or change management field
- Experience that demonstrates the ability to meet the Key Capabilities listed above
- Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint proficient
Desirable
- Experience and qualifications within the health care sector
