Exciting opportunity for a Senior Physiotherapist to join our Musculoskeletal Stream at Alfred Health.

About us

The Alfred Health Physiotherapy Department has more than 100 EFT and employs over 170 staff. The physiotherapy service has a proud history of clinical and academic excellence. It remains strongly committed to further pursuing excellence in physiotherapy through clinical research. The Alfred Health Physiotherapy Department is a major partner in the Alfred Health Physiotherapy Clinical Schools for both La Trobe and Monash Universities and in this role provides core and elective clinical placements for more than 50 undergraduate physiotherapy students.

About the role

The Grade 2 Senior Physiotherapist (Musculoskeletal Rotational) is primarily responsible for provision of physiotherapy services to the Orthopaedic, Burns, Plastics and Trauma inpatient units at The Alfred Hospital, and to the Orthopaedic unit at Sandringham Hospital. Depending on the needs of the department, the person in this role may also be required to support other units within Alfred Health across both inpatients and outpatients.

The Grade 2 Senior Physiotherapist (Musculoskeletal Rotational) is responsible for the ongoing development and provision of physiotherapy services to the units, and programs assigned to the senior physiotherapist, which is dependent upon the specific clinical role, in consultation with senior clinician(s) and stream leader at the level of a developing expert.

The Grade 2 Senior Physiotherapist (Musculoskeletal Rotational) is responsible for the education of physiotherapy students and the supervision and professional development of Grade 1 staff assigned to their units.   

The Grade 2 Senior Physiotherapist (Musculoskeletal Rotational) has an important role contributing to the development of individuals, the clinical team and the physiotherapy service through good leadership, teamwork and communication.

The position may involve work at any of the 3 sites across Alfred Health including Alfred, Caulfield and Sandringham hospitals. The position includes regular weekend work.

About you

Essential                 

  • A Bachelor degree or Master's degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent
  • Current registration as a physiotherapist with the Physiotherapists Registration Board of Victoria                                    

Desirable                           

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in orthopaedic, burns or trauma physiotherapy
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and manage a caseload, including co-ordination of other staff
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise students and grade 1 staff
  • Demonstrated communications skills
  • Demonstrated time management skills
