The Department
Ward 4WA, part of the Alfred Specialty Medicine program, is an inpatient unit which provides care for renal, endocrinology, rheumatology and vascular patients.
The Alfred Specialty Medicine Program within the Operations division is comprised of six clinical units including: Clinical Genetics and Genomics, Dermatology, Endocrine and Diabetes, Gastroenterology, Renal and Rheumatology. The program provides admitted services including multiday (Ward 4WA) and Same Day Dialysis services (The Alfred, Caulfield and Sandringham campuses), and specialist outpatient and ambulatory services.
The Alfred Specialty Medicine runs a large outpatient service with a focus on multidisciplinary specialty clinics with >42,000 patient consultations per year with clinics across The Alfred, Caulfield and Sandringham campuses. The inpatient component of the program admits >22,000 patients per year across the Gastroenterology, Renal, Endocrine and Diabetes and Rheumatology. In addition, the program has a world-leading research program, completing the clinical services and providing access to our patients to the latest innovations in clinical care.
The Position Summary
Every Alfred Health nurse must practice in accordance with the Alfred Health Nursing Professional Practice Framework.
The Professional Practice Framework defines the elements of nursing practice that improve the care and experience of our patients and aligns with the Patient’s Come First Strategy.
It is comprised of five domains that are crucial to maintain standards, lead change and add value to healthcare. These domains are Comprehensive Care, Workforce, Leadership, Professional Development, Research and Informatics.
Qualifications and experience required
Mandatory
- Experience in a health care setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical practice.
- Recent experience as a Ward Clerk.
Preferred
- Certificate III in Business Administration or equivalent.
- Formal training in Microsoft Office Applications (Word and Excel).
