The Department

The Musculoskeletal Health and Wiser Health Care Units comprise internationally renowned researchers in musculoskeletal epidemiology, health services research, evidence synthesis, and implementation science. We undertake high quality clinical and epidemiological research to answer clinically important questions and to promote the translation of clinical evidence into practice and policy change.

The Role

The Research Manager will provide a variety of high-quality research co-ordination services to support the operations of the Wiser Health Care and Musculoskeletal Health Units. The Research Manager will perform a range of complex research co-ordination activities that play a critical role in supporting the delivery of health services research and implementation research projects, as well as evidence syntheses relevant to the program. The successful applicant will work closely with the Director and Deputy Directors to understand the research requirements and will operate with excellence in process and judgement to provide efficient research services in accordance with research protocols, standards, and governance and reporting requirements.

There are no supervisory roles associated with this position at this stage. The position is based at the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine within Monash University (553 St Kilda Road, Melbourne). It is not anticipated that the position will involve interstate or overseas travel.

Qualifications/Experience

Essential                 

  • Masters or PhD qualification in relevant field (for example, Public Health)
  • An appropriate level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation
  • Extensive experience in project management across multiple projects, from developing project plans and bringing a project to fruition within budget and within the agreed timeframe
  • Proven high level experience in navigating and negotiating with multiple organisations and professional groups within a project management framework
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Advanced working knowledge of organisational systems to enable management of budgets, governance and ethics approvals
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to lead and mentor employees in order to deliver project outcomes
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with experience communicating to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrates independent judgement and initiative
