The Department

Radiation Oncology is a unit of a comprehensive cancer service, with sites located at:

  • The Alfred - Melbourne (ARO)
  • Gippsland Radiation Oncology (GRO) at Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) - Traralgon
  • Sale Radiation Oncology (SRO) at Central Gippsland Health, Sale Hospital

The service provides the full range of general radiation oncology and radiation therapy services in addition to some specialised services with both state and national significance.

Location Summary

The Latrobe Regional Health is located in the only regional city in eastern Victoria. Latrobe City consists of many small townships and the main towns of Moe, Morwell and Traralgon. 

Gippsland Radiation Oncology is situated at the Latrobe Regional Health site in Traralgon, Latrobe Valley.

At Gippsland Radiation Oncology, you will enjoy the opportunity to work with some of the latest technology, including Varian Truebeam Linacs, AlignRT,  full suite of Varian software including ARIA patient management and Eclipse planning systems. 

We treat a wide variety of cases including an active SABR workload. Here at GRO the team have a strong culture of including all team members and encourage staff to become invoved in project and research initiatives.

The Role

One Senior Radiation Therapist Grade 4 position located at Gippsland Radiation Oncology (GRO), responsible for performing radiation therapy treatment planning and treatment delivery tasks and activities which may often be in the complex range of techniques and problem solving. Salary commensurate with experience within the Grade 4 level. The incumbent should have extensive skills and knowledge base in radiation therapy practice,  experience in team leadership and well developed communication skills.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Radiations or equivalent
  • National Registration with the Medical Radiation Practise Board of Australia to practice as a Medical Radiation Practitioner (Radiation Therapist)
  • Victorian Department of Health Radiation Use Licence
  • Extensive skills and knowledge base in radiation therapy practice commensurate with experience at this level.
  • Ability to manage allocated personal workload efficiently and effectively and to a high quality.
  • Experience in small team leadership.
  • Demonstrated application of quality and safety issues, principles and practice.
  • Engagement with continuing professional development.
  • Demonstrated well developed interpersonal and communication skills enabling effective participation in a team and multidisciplinary environment.
