About the Role
Two exciting opportunities exist for experienced Grade 2 Occupational Therapists to join the Occupational Therapy team at Alfred Health in a permanent capacity.
The successful applicants for these Grade 2 Occupational Therapy positions will apply their knowledge, skill and expertise to deliver excellent clinical service to patients across a range of diagnostic groups in the General Medicine, General Surgery and acute services stream (including leave cover). The Occupational Therapists will provide high-quality assessment and intervention to promote occupational performance, contribute to timely progression of care and facilitation of discharge pathways to home and the community for these patients. They may also play an important role in occupational therapy intervention to NDIS participants who have been admitted to hospital. They will work closely and collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to contribute to patient centred comprehensive care.
Grade 2 clinicians have an important role in leading various teaching/training and quality improvement activities across the Occupational Therapy Service, and will be responsible for the supervision and mentoring of junior Occupational Therapy staff, Allied Health Assistants and/or undergraduate students. They will be well supported by an experienced Grade 3 senior Occupational Therapist including regular supervision and access to professional development opportunities. At Alfred Health, the Occupational Therapy service delivers a seven-day model of care. The incumbents in this position may be required to work one weekend shift on a periodic basis to assist progression of care and clinical service delivery at the acute site.
Skills and Experience Required
- A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in occupational therapy
- Registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia, and eligibility for OTA membership
- Clinical experience and knowledge of client-centred, occupational service delivery in an acute setting
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate and modify service delivery in accordance with evidence-based practice
- Experience working within an interdisciplinary team with strong interpersonal skills
- A strong commitment to ongoing learning and development
- Flexibility and adaptability in both clinical service provision and interactions with the team
- Experience in supervision of junior staff and students is highly desirable
Experience/Qualifications
- B. App Sc (OT), B. Occupational Therapy, MOT prac or recognised equivalent.
- Full Registration held with Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Member of OT Australia (or eligibility for membership).
- Minimum three years of clinical experience in Occupational Therapy.
- Current Victorian Driver’s License (unrestricted).
- Current Working with Children’s Check.
