The Department

The Intensive Care Unit [ICU] is an integral part of Alfred Health, providing a high level of care to the critically ill patients. The department operates over three levels. Alfred ICU is a university attached quaternary referral centre, providing State Service for heart and lung transplantation (including paediatric lung transplantation), artificial heart technology, extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), burns and hyperbaric medicine. It also provides Victoria’s Adult Cystic Fibrosis and Pulmonary Hyperextension Services. Internationally renowned, The Alfred ICU provides specialist career pathways and endless career opportunities.

The Role

Intensive Care Unit [ICU] Technician employed within the ICU will work under the supervision of the ICU Equipment Associate Nurse Manager [ANUM] are responsible for providing support to the clinical staff to provide quality and often complex care to the most critically ill patients. They are required to work rotating shifts, 7 days a week.

Qualification & Experience Required

To be eligible for the classification of Instrument Technician IN3 & IN4 (Grade 3 & 4) Certificate III & Certificate IV in Sterilising Services is required.
