Director, AMAH Hospital & Emergency Mental Health & Wellbeing Service

Are you a psychiatrist seeking an opportunity to implement change in one of Victoria’s leading mental health services?  Alfred Health is seeking suitable applicants for a key leadership position as Director, Hospital. & Emergency Mental Health & Wellbeing Services (H&E-MHWS) within Alfred Mental & Addiction Health.

The newly established AMAH Hospital & Emergency MHWS will combine Emergency & Liaison Psychiatry, Addiction Health, and Adult Inpatient services.  The Department will embed trauma-informed approaches and create an integrated approach that enhances communication and is visible at every point of the care continuum.

The Director will work with the Deputy Director of Operations, (Hospital & Emergency), and the Lived Experience, Program & Operations Directors of AMAH to ensure the safe, effective, and appropriate delivery of services that meet national standards for mental health services and deliver on the mental health and wellbeing principles outlined in the MHW Act 2022. Reporting to the Director AMAH H&E MHWS will be the service heads (medical) of three streams- Adult Inpatient, Consultation-Liaison & Emergency Psychiatry, and Addiction Health.  The Director will also be responsible for managing our After-Hours Hospital service.

Applicants must be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the AHPRA and a Fellow of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. They must have deep experience of acute and liaison psychiatry, be accredited FRANZCP supervisors, demonstrate relevant knowledge and experience in psychiatry and meet Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Psychiatry.  Accredited membership of the Faculties of Adult, Consultation-Liaison and/or Addiction Psychiatry is desirable but not essential.
