Renal Medicine is part of the Alfred Health Specialty Medicine program. It covers multiple areas across the acute and subacute setting including inpatient (general and consult ward service), outpatient care (public and MBS clinics), consultative shared care, maintenance dialysis in both satellite campuses (Caulfield and Sandringham campuses), and home settings, supportive care and kidney transplantation.
The service is also the hub for spoke dialysis services across the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula region. Teaching, clinical research and quality improvement are core to the service and to providing patient focused care, with opportunities to enhance the research program
Applications are invited for the position of Locum Specialist in Renal Medicine (Fractional) to provide parental leave backfill working 6 hours per week from November 2023 to January 2024.
Duties include:
- Attendance at 1 x Home Therapies clinic per week (Wednesday morning)
- Participation in monthly dialysis blood audit
- Attendance at unit meetings
- Participation in ward service throughout December and January
Applicants must be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians. Applicants must demonstrate relevant contemporary knowledge and experience in Renal Medicine and meet Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Renal Medicine.
Applicants with extended skills and experience in either HIV nephrology and/or haemodialysis will be considered favourably.
