Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services.

Commencing 1st November, maternity leave cover position available for suitably qualified HMO's for appointment as an Ophthalmology cataract fellowship (5th year position) in 2023.  Candidates should have ideally completed RACE exams and be able to operate independently. 

 

The clinics are well supported by 14 different consultant ophthalmologists with subspecialty training in medial retina, uveitis, glaucoma, oculoplastics, cornea and strabismus. The Unit provides ophthalmology services to a large mix of general hospital and trauma inpatients, providing exposure to an exceptional range of conditions.

 

Duties will include:

·         two or three unsupervised operating lists per week;

·         one medical retina clinic per week (with laser and intravitreal injections);

·         two general ophthalmology clinics per week;

·         one or two cataract clinics per week;

·         one in three weeks on call;

·         supervision of junior registrars and resident;

·         medical student teaching.
