The Department

Haematology at the Alfred has the largest number of Haematologists of a service in Australia. The Malignant Haematology and Stem Cell Transplantation Service, and the Haemostasis / Thrombosis Unit and the Haemophilia Centre, support haematology patients from the greater Melbourne area, and adult haemophilia patients from all of Victoria. These are just some of the factors attracting a very large portfolio of treatment trials to our unit. The Clinical Research Unit (CRU) oversees a large number of trials from Phase 1, first-in-humans to Phase 3 randomised, controlled trials. These trials are testing treatments ranging from newly developed drugs straight from the biotech companies to established drugs being used in new regimens. We have gene therapy studies, Car Tcell and BiTE studies in our exciting list of studies.  Our research ranges from large pharmaceutical companies, bio-tech companies, and universities, to in-house investigator-initiated.

The Nurse Manager is a professional and clinical leader in Nursing Services and plays a pivotal role in meeting broader organisational imperatives. The Nurse Manager operationalises the core values of Nursing at Alfred Health by ensuring a safe and supportive environment for patients and staff. She/He is accountable for developing staff to deliver excellence in clinical practice and is responsible for managing clinical risk and implementing systems and processes to improve patient outcomes.  
The Nurse Manager facilitates effective patient access to clinical services managing both financial and human resources to meet these needs. 

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Registered as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA
  • Degree in healthcare / business management or working towards same
  • Recent extensive clinical nursing experience in relevant health service
  • Current and satisfactory Police Check
  • Current and satisfactory Working with Children Check
