The Alfred's Intensive Care Unit is one of Australia's leading Intensive Care Units, admitting approximately 3000 patients per annum. It is a university attached quaternary referral centre, providing State Services for heart and lung transplantation (including paediatric lung transplantation), artificial heart technology, extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), burns and hyperbaric medicine. It also provides Victoria's Adult Cystic Fibrosis and Pulmonary Hypertension services.

Seeking an experienced, hands on conference/events organiser to assist with all facets of our Intensive Care Unit events program

The Alfred ICU runs an event roughly every two weeks from small hands on workshops to off-site conferences with 100- 200 delegates.

The role will be to help coordinate activities, logistics and resources, managing a high volume of administration tasks, in order to deliver high quality and profitable events, seminars and conferences.  Key tasks will include planning and organisation, building client relationships, preparing and updating event information, and meeting deadlines for both internal and external communication.

A proven background in a similar role is essential as is experience in developing and maintaining professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

The role requires someone who can work independently as well as with other members of a team.

An event management diploma or related qualification (preferred) and a high level of personal presentation are essential. Experience in Events or Logistics & Administration.


You will also have:

  • excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
  • excellent time management, disciplined organisational and planning skills;
  • excellent attention to detail and a high level of customer service;
  • ability to prioritise, multitask and meet strict deadlines and work well under pressure
  • proficiency in Excel is essential and you will preferably have experience with Cvent software
  • While this is essentially a Monday to Friday role, there are early starts and late finishes and the successful candidate will need to be available for to do this on approximately 60 event days each year.
  • Our activities are well defined, precedents exist for all new events, as do policy guidelines and standards, budgets and time frames but sound judgement is also required.
