Research Assistant - Neurology Clinical Trials

The Department
Neurology is a developing specialty within Alfred Health, and recent investment has produced significant growth in this area, particularly with regard to research and clinical trials. Neurology at Alfred Health consists of inpatient units and a range of specialised outpatient clinics.

The Role

The primary responsibility of the Research Assistant is to assist with the co-ordination and running of investigator led clinical trials and cohort studies being conducted by the Alfred Neurology Department. The Neurology Research Assistant will do this by ensuring optimal patient assessment, recruitment and retention as well as excellent data collection and management in accordance with Good Clinical Research Practice Standards and adherence to clinical trial protocols. The Resesarch Assistant will also liase with the relevent Principle Investigator and Subinvestigtors, the submission of Health Human Research Ethics Committee Ethics (HREC) and Governance Submissions, and progress reports. The Research Assistant will also liase as necessary personnel such as Research Coordinators and Monitors and other relevant staff as required for the studies they are involved in.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Essential

  • Proven skills in the management of the activities of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Familiarity with the clinical aspects of neurology and relevant sub specialties.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Strong and proven time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to practice nursing as part of the multi-disciplinary health care team.
  • Have good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification in health and/or management or working towards same
