Applications are invited for the position of Specialist in Anatomical Pathology based at Alfred Hospital 1.0 EFT and will transition to 1.0 EFT at the Northern hospital in 2024. 

 

As part of the Alfred Pathology Service, the Anatomical Pathology Unit provides high quality diagnostic and consultative services in specialist histopathology and cytopathology. The Unit includes the Victorian Neuromuscular Laboratory service, a Molecular Pathology solid tumour service and pathology reporting to the Victorian Melanoma Service.

 

This position includes active participation in educational and professional development training programs for medical students and registrars. The unit is also involved in and supports a wide range of research activity in association with hospital clinical units and university partnerships. The Unit actively supports ongoing professional development, including within areas of diagnostic interest.

 

Applicants must be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, possess a fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (or a postgraduate clinical qualification in Pathology which meets the College's requirements for this position) and appropriate specialist experience. An experience in molecular pathology and neuropathology would be of benefit.

 

Applicants must be prepared to participate in a pathologist on-call roster and after hour’s service.
