DEPARTMENT

The MS and Neuroimmunology Service at The Alfred was established in late 2017 and has dramatically expanded with a large academic and clinical program at all Alfred campuses. Led by A/Prof. Anneke van der Walt, the service includes 7 additional consultants, four senior fellows, and a Basic sciences team. The MSNI Psychologist will be integrated into a multidisciplinary service with dedicated physiotherapy, occupational therapy and case workers from MS Limited and a dietician.

ROLE

The MSNI Psychologist role provides an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of clinicians and allied health staff focused on delivering excellent care to people with MS and Neuroimmunological disorders at Alfred Health, Department of Neurology. The Clinical Psychologist will work closely with MSNI neurologists, senior nurses, physiotherapists, and visiting OTs and social workers. The work is varied and exciting, with many multi-disciplinary touchpoints. The post holder will consult during the MSNI Clinics on a Tuesday morning and afternoon (Caulfield hospital) and Wednesday afternoon (Alfred hospital).  The main reason for referral would be to discuss adjustment to diagnosis, management of mental health disorders and health and well-being coaching.
