DEPARTMENT

Ward 5 East consists of 32 beds, servicing the Alfreds Respiratory patient group

Adult and Paediatric Lung Transplant, General Respiratory and Sleep Studies; Cystic Fibrosis; and Allergy and Immunology Medicine.  5 East delivers care through a multidisciplinary team approach. Which is facilitated by daily ward rounds and frequent team meetings.  The nursing team on 5 East complete annual mandatory competencies; and participate in a range of quality portfolios and activities in-line with the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) standards.  The 5 East nursing team are a compassionate, enthusiastic team of highly skilled nurses, specialising in acute respiratory nursing care. Our ward belongs to the Cancer and Medical Specialty Service delivered by the Alfred Hospital

POSITION

Ward 5 East is seeking an enthusiastic Associate Nurse Manager to join our team in a fixed term, capacity. This is covering a secondment.

The Associate Nurse Manager is a member of the interdisciplinary leadership team on 5 East who assists the Nurse Manager to operationalise the core values of the organisation, and plays a pivotal role in meeting broader organisational imperatives.

This role supports  excellence  in  clinical  practice  and  promotes  the  development  of  nurses,  ensuring  the vision of the ward and organisation are consistently reflected professional practice and patient care.

Together with the Nurse Manager, the Associate Nurse Manager is responsible for managing clinical risk and implementing systems and processes to improve patient outcomes. The Associate Nurse Manager facilitates timely quality care and flow across the continuum of care.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Registered as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA.
  • Relevant post-graduate diploma or working toward same.
  • Recent acute clinical nursing background in an acute health service

Desired Skills:

  • Previous exposure to respiratory nursing in the acute setting. Experience with non-invasive ventilation, care of tracheostomies and hi-flo oxygen delivery desired
