The Department

Alfred Health’s Nutrition Department provides an integrated nutrition and dietetic service at The Alfred, Sandringham and Caulfield Hospitals.  It aims to provide nutritional care to Alfred Health’s patients during their healthcare journey including prevention of malnutrition, optimising nutritional wellbeing and recovery. The Alfred Hospital Intensive Care Unit is one of Australia's leading Intensive Care Units, admitting approximately 3,000 patients a year. The state-of-the-art unit is one of the largest and has the most complex case mix in the Australia.


The Role

Alfred Health’s Nutrition Department is seeking an outstanding senior clinical dietitian with experience in critical care nutrition. As the Senior ICU Dietitian, you will be responsible for the clinical operation of a team of dietitians in the ICU stream of Alfred Health’s Nutrition Department.  Clinical expertise in critical care, strong leadership skills and a proven track record of coordination and implementation of quality initiatives in clinical nutrition are key aspects of this role. The Nutrition department has a proud history of research and there is an opportunity to participate and/or undertake research projects.



The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Clinical expertise in critical care nutrition.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to lead a team and proficiency in nutrition education
  • Experience of continuous quality improvement and service development
  • At Least 7 years post-graduate experience
  • Eligibility for membership of DA and APD credentialed is essential
  • Postgraduate qualification or be progressing toward one
