Alfred Health’s Nutrition Department is seeking an outstanding senior clinical dietitian to work in ICU.

The Department

Alfred Nutrition provides an integrated nutrition and dietetic service at The Alfred, Sandringham and Caulfield Hospitals. The Department has had a long and valued relationship within the Alfred, with the first ever dietitian in Australia being appointed at The Alfred in 1930. Alfred Nutrition provides nutritional care to Alfred Health’s patients during their healthcare journey including prevention of malnutrition, optimising nutritional wellbeing and recovery. The Alfred Hospital Intensive Care Unit is one of Australia's leading Intensive Care Units, admitting approximately 3,000 patients a year. The state-of-the-art 45 cubicle unit is one of the largest and has the most complex case mix in the country. Alfred Health is the largest provider of major trauma care in Victoria.

 

The Role

The Grade 4 ICU Dietitian has a key role in:

  • Supporting nutrition related research and quality initiates in ICU
  • Strategic development of nutrition services aligned with the ICU and Alfred Health goals
  • Development and updating of clinical guidelines and related policies for ICU and post ICU Nutrition care
  • Leadership,  clinical supervision and supported learning amongst the ICU Nutrition team

The Grade 4 ICU Dietitian is also an active member of the Grade 4 executive leadership team within the Nutrition Department.

 

 The Skills

Clinical expertise in critical care nutrition, strong leadership skills and a proven track record of co-ordination and implementation of research and quality initiatives in clinical nutrition are key aspects of this role. 

The successful candidate will have:

  • 10 years post graduate experience including minimum of 3 years in a critical care setting
  • Post graduate qualification at minimum or proceeding towards Research/Management/Public Health at Masters/PhD level
  • Experience in leading a team and supporting junior staff
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in nutrition education
  • Eligibility for membership of DA and APD credentialed is essential
  • Full driving license
