  • Full-time with flexible ADO to December 2023
  • Grade 1 Social Worker Yr 2/3 (dependent on qualifications & experience)

Alfred Mental & Addiction Health:

Alfred Health is the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne and is also a major provider of specialist services to people across Victoria. The health service operates three outstanding facilities, The Alfred, Caulfield, and Sandringham. Alfred Mental and Addiction Health is responsible for the operation of services which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.


Commencing mid-year 2022, we have one Social Work graduate position available for a recently qualified Social Worker interested in pursuing a fulfilling career in public mental health, to join our team at Alfred’s Child and Youth Mental Health Service. As an entry level Social Worker, you will have the opportunity to enhance quality of life for children, young people and families by enabling them to participate in meaningful mental health therapeutic assessment support in the growing child and youth mental health and wellbeing sector.


Successful applicants will be provided:

  • Weekly clinical supervision with a Senior Social Worker
  • Involvement in a Graduate Peer Supervision Program
  • Protected education, training, and professional development time and opportunities to ensure proficiency in core competencies, including funded-participation in the University of Melbourne’s Mindful Centre for Training and Research in Developmental Health annual Developmental Psychiatry Course (DPC)
  • Targeted career planning and progression consultations with discipline senior staff

  • A full-time 18-month contract plus monthly ADOs

Inclusion criteria:

In order to be considered for this prestigious position you will need:

  • Bachelor Degree and/or Masters of Social Work or equivalent
  • Eligibility for membership of AASW
  • Full Australian working rights, and be willing to undergo a background check.
