The Role
As an ASAR accreditted sonographer your role would be to work collaboratively with the Sonography Supervisor based at the Alfred Hospital and the Sonography Supervisor/Clinical Educator based at Sandringham Hospital to provide the best possible supervision, education and support to sonographer trainees and early career sonographers. In addition you will be expected to provide high quality sonographic examinations to a broad patient cohort ensuring patient comfort, welfare and safety in accordance with established practice, ethics and code of conduct. This position is based at the Alfred Hospital.
Skills
- Bachelor of Applied Science in Sonography/ Postgraduate qualification in Sonography or equivalent
- Registration with ASAR to practice as a Sonographer
- Evidence of CPD in line with registration requirements.

Commencing in July, this is a great opportunity for an ASAR accredited sonographer to work in a large public hospital in metropolitan Melbourne, which includes a large Trauma Service, Heart, Lung and Kidney Transplant services, Cardiothoracics, Infectious diseases, Oncology, Medical, Surgical and Plastics units. This position will suit someone who enjoys working in a dynamic environment with daily challenges and enjoys utilising their clinical skills as well as sharing their knowledge with sonography trainees and their colleagues.
Alfred Health ultrasound equipment includes Philips iu22 XMatrix systems and Philips EPIQ offering a wide range of ultrasound services, including general abdominal, gynaecologic, small parts, vascular and MSK imaging.
The successful applicant will be asked to perform mobile exams in ICU, and all types of ultrasound examinations including Renal Artery Doppler, Contrast studies, Breast, Arm and Leg DVT’s, and musculoskeletal scans.
Some flexibility of working hours may be required to respond to the changing needs of our service.
