The Department

Nursing Administration provides for the coordination and management of SDMH including all aspects of bed access management and the support, education and professional guidance of nursing staff along with facility and code management. 

Sandringham Hospital is one of three hospitals within Alfred health and is located south-east of the Alfred.  Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory, to inpatient and home and community based services. 

An exciting opportunity is available for somebody with excellent clinical and leadership skills. The After Hours Coordinator {AHC) is a key organisational clinical leadership role. As the AHC you will be responsible for managing hospital operations, business continuity and emergency situations. You will be an experienced nurse with highly developed skills in clinical leadership, clinical practise communication, and problem solving decision-making and be skilled at leading a team-based approach to care.

You will work in partnership with the Clinical Lead {Medical) to provide clinical leadership, supervision and advanced nursing practice. Day-to-day you will work with clinical and management staff to ensure the hospital's patient access strategies are responsive to patient demand. Critical Care experience and certification, as well as current ALS accreditation is desirable, though not required.

 

The Role

Coordinate the access and patient flow including the utilisation of beds, theatre and emergency department in the after-hours setting at Sandringham Hospital whilst providing clinical support, facilitate workforce coverage via Nurse Allocations, provides emergency response for Code management.

 

Skills/Qualifications Required 

  • Registration as a Division 1 Registered Nurse with APHRA
  • Relevant post-graduate qualifications (or experience)
  • Recent experience in an acute hospital setting
