The Department

Health Service Partnerships (HSP) across Metropolitan and Regional Victoria are a key part of the Department of Health (DH) and Public Health Services recovery and reform program. There will be an increasing portfolio of work commissioned by DH and the three Public Health Services that form the South East Metro HSP – Alfred Health, Monash Health and Peninsula Health AND South Eastern Melbourne PHN.

The Project

The Alfred/Monash Shared Pathology Project (the project) was established in late 2020 as a joint initiative between Monash Health and Alfred Health to explore options for a shared pathology service model.

The Project aims to deliver a shared Alfred/Monash Pathology service.  It will consider the benefits and risks of this venture in light of previous explorative work carried by the two health services as well as information gathered throughout the project development.  The project will run in conjunction with broader pathology system reform being undertaken by the Department of Health.

The Project is being delivered through strong collaboration between Alfred Health and Monash Health, facilitated by the HSP.  Using strong team based support structures and leveraging expertise from within both health services, we are bringing together a range of stakeholders to support delivery of the shared pathology service.

The Role

The Project Officer will work closely with the Program Controller and senior members of the project team to drive the project schedule and related functions across the shared pathology project.  The Project Officer will play a critical role in ensuring that project delivery is on track and work with a number of stream leads to manage competing and interrelated demands. Building and maintaining stakeholder relationships is also a key aspect of the role, which will suit a person with strong communication and engagement skills.

You will have an expert working knowledge of MSProjects (or alternate project management software), strong project management skills, be highly organised, diligent and have strong attention to detail.  Your ability to work with a range of stakeholders and support a wide variety of work streams will be critical in this role.

  • Expert MS Project skills (or alternate project management software)
  • Strong understanding of project management methodology
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work in collaborative environments, in particular with inter-organisational partnerships
  • Strong analytical, conceptual and writing skills and ability to prepare concise and timely briefs and reports.
  • Ability to source and utilise a range of health data to inform project and operational planning
  • Willingness to embrace change and an ability to facilitate the change process
  • Ability to work independently, with good time management skills

The Alfred/Monash project is leading the state in terms of the DH reform agenda.  This role provides a unique opportunity to work in a collaborative project across two of Victoria’s leading health services.
