The Department

The Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Research Centre (ANZIC-RC) is a major clinical research method centre for Intensive Care in Australia and New Zealand based in the Monash School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at the Alfred Hospital campus. The centre is involved in the establishment of comprehensive research programs comprising surveys and pilot studies through to large multicentre clinical trials. The Monash Centre for Health Research and Implementation (MCHRI) seeks to create, synthesise, implement and translate clinical, health services and public health knowledge, underpinned by cross sector end user engagement, to deliver health impact. It is focused on direct delivery of improved health outcomes across all areas of health. MCHRI brings together clinical researchers, clinicians, health service managers, evidence synthesis and translation experts as well as other research end users, including policy makers, non-government organisations (NGO’s) and consumer groups with a common interest in evidence informed best practice in health and in improved health outcomes.

The Role

The SODA BIC Project Manager utilises, specialist knowledge to oversee and deliver high-quality research services to support the operations of SODA BIC randomized controlled trial. This includes managing, overseeing and undertaking tasks such as, data capture and management, developing research protocols and procedures, providing expert advice and training, operational planning, writing complex procedures and guidelines.
The Project Manager provides leadership to the trial in the delivery of high-level and professional research services and effective achievement of the trial’s priorities and provides expert advice at both strategic and operational levels.Qualifications/Experience Required  

The appointee will have:

  • postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or
  • extensive experience and management expertise; or
  • an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training

Knowledge and Skills

  • Familiarity with and experience in care of critically ill patients
  • Using health medical records and experience in data collection
  • Analysis and evidence synthesis in a health setting


This role would suit a candidate who wishes to continue to build on practical and theoretical research skills.
