The Office of Ethics & Research Governance (“Office”), based at The Alfred hospital campus, provides administrative support, advice and information relating to research activities at Alfred Health. Services include management of all matters relating to review by the Alfred Hospital Ethics Committee; approval and surveillance of research projects involving humans; monitoring of research performance; and support for the development of policies and research initiatives. The Office provides executive support to the Alfred Hospital Ethics Committee and its subcommittees, the Research Review Committee and the General Ethical Issues Sub-committee and the Research Governance Committee. Alfred Health has a responsibility to monitor research in accordance with the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research (2018) ‘the Code’ and the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2007) – Updated 2018.
Drawing on their expertise in the coordination and implementation of the National Standards framework, the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework Pilot Project Lead (“Project Lead”) will provide strategic direction and assistance to meet the requirements of the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework pilot. The Project Lead will work with the Alfred Health National Clinical Trials Governance Framework Pilot Steering Committee, the Director of Research, Office of Ethics & Research Governance, Director, Alfred Health TrialHub, Director, Patient Safety & Improvement, Clinical Governance, Managers and their staff to ensure the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework Standards are implemented and meet the pilot external accreditation requirements.
