Nucleus Network and Alfred Health are seeking a dynamic and capable Principal Investigator/General Physician with a strong quality and safety focus and a clinical research interest.

This full-time position will include responsibilities to Nucleus Network as a Principal Investigator (0.6 FTE) for leadership in safety and quality in first-in-human clinical research studies, reporting to the Chief Medical Officer of Nucleus Network. The role will include mentored involvement in design, conduct and evaluation of Phase 1 healthy-volunteer and patient drug studies with oversight of safety and supervision of junior medical staff.

The Alfred Health responsibilities will be those of a General Physician (0.4 FTE) within Alfred Health, reporting to the Director of General Medicine, although candidates from other specialties are also encouraged to apply. They will include ward service, clinics and other responsibilities as appropriate to interests, training and unit requirements. 

Our preferred candidate must possess the following experience and attributes:

  • Be legally qualified practitioners, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
  • Fellow of the relevant college
  • Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in General Medicine or other medical specialty
  • Meet Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in General Medicine or other medical specialty
  • Demonstrate leadership in the delivery of clinical services and clinical research is desirable
  • Outstanding communication skills, including well-developed conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to liaise well with other staff at all levels
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and capability to develop and maintain highly collaborative relationships with others
