The Department

Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of services which focus on people with a mental illness residing in the Inner Southeastern area of Melbourne.

The Role

The Emergency Psychiatry team is comprised of dedicated and compassionate mental health clinicians. Qualifications and Experience Required

Academic

  • Division 1 Registered nurse
  • Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Post graduate qualifications in a relevant speciality 
  • Either: Current endorsement by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Nurse Practitioner, having completed a Masters of Nurse Practitioner (or a Masters granted equivalence of qualification by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency plus an approved Therapeutic Medication Management module)
  • Or: Currently completing a relevant master’s qualification and seeking a candidacy within the specialities of mental health and primary care

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior nursing role. If you are applying for a Nurse Practitioner Candidate Position - a minimum of 5 years in CATT/EPS (or similar) is required and you must have completed the academic requirements to qualify for an RPN5.  
  • Relevant experience in clinical assessment and treatment in the areas of addiction, physical health and/or acute mental health
  • Evidence of competent utilisation of extensions to advanced nursing practice according to approved Clinical Practice Guidelines in mental and addiction health
  • Australian working rights and current Influenza vaccination
