Nursing Services provides professional nursing support to nurses working at Alfred Health. Education, research, workforce management, quality, safety and clinical practice development are key components of this service.
Position Summary
The Harm Minimisation CNC will develop, coordinate and support the implementation of multi-faceted, evidence-based and sustainable approaches to preventing patient harm from falls across Alfred Health. This role will provide visible clinical leadership through expert teaching, guidance and support of clinicians to identify and minimise patient harm. The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is a registered nurse appointed to provide a clinical resource, clinical advisory/developmental role preferably on a full-time dedicated basis (i.e. performs consultancy work on the relevant shifts) and undertakes related projects and research and development activities to meet specified clinical needs in a clinical discipline/specialised field.
The role uses expert clinical knowledge to provide advanced patient triage and assessment that informs and contributes to the development of optimal care planning and treatment care pathways. The CNC uses this specialist knowledge to educate clinicians, patients, families and carers which in turn assists their understanding of their diagnosis and subsequent treatments.
Skills and Qualifications Required
Current Registered as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
Advanced clinical knowledge and skills in falls assessment, prevention and management
Postgraduate qualification or working towards Masters's qualification
