The Department
Alfred Pathology Service (APS) provides a comprehensive range of pathology testing, consultation services and collection services to clinicians and patients of Alfred Health. The Service has 5 units (Anatomical Pathology, Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology, Microbiology and Human Molecular Pathology), each headed by a Unit Head. APS has the core laboratory at The Alfred as well as a small local laboratory at Sandringham hospital. We are also in collaboration with Northern Hospital as of early 2019 providing support and some specialty testing.
The Role
We are seeking applicants for this fixed term position in the flow cytometry section of APS.
You must have previous flow cytometry experience and be able to identify cell lineages from multiple markers.
You should be familiar with the terms single platform, dual platform and backgating.
The interview will include technical questions to confirm your knowledge base and suitability for the role.
Skills
Essential - previous experience in flow cytometry analysis
Advantageous - advanced flow cytometry data analysis in the diagnostic setting
Advantageous - To also have previous experience working in a haematology, transfusion and/or immunology departments.
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Applied Science.
You are required to have the ability to demonstrate effective communication skills
