DEPARTMENT:

Neurology has long been recognised as one of the major clinical and research strengths of Alfred Health. Core activities of the department include: Specialist clinics (and consultants with particular expertise) in Movement Disorders, Neuropathy, Headache, Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology, Epilepsy, Stroke and Neurogenetics. There is an active Neurophysiology Department providing EEG, EMG, Evoked potential studies and Tremor analysis and a strong neuropsychology service.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The MSNI research coordinator will be integrated into a team that includes a MS nurse consultant and MSNI administrative officer as well as three additional MS research and clinical nurses The MSNI unit provides a multidisciplinary service with dedicated physiotherapy, clinical psychology and dietetics.  The MSNI unit works closely alongside other neurology subspecialties that include neuro ophthalmology, pain and rehabilitation groups.  Multidisciplinary MSNI Outpatient Clinics are provided on Tuesday and Wednesday with smaller research clinics running on Monday and Tuesdays.  A dedicated Neuroimmunology clinic for patients with non-MS neuroimmunological conditions will commence in May 2021. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ability to adhere to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines
