DEPARTMENT

The Monash & Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre (MAPrc) conducts clinical research projects with a focus on translation into clinical practice and the development of new treatments for people with serious mental illness. MAP-RC has approximately 65 staff and post graduate students and is based at The Alfred Hospital, Prahran. The centre has approximately 80 active projects in a range of domains including women’s mental health, brain stimulation and neuroimaging, neuropsychology, autism spectrum disorders, psychopharmacology, service evaluation and service delivery research and health outcomes research.

Receptionist / Administration Assistant

The receptionist / administration assistant provides front line contact clients and visitors to MAPrc – a world class psychiatry clinical research centre of Alfred Health and Monash University. The position also provides direct support to the centre manager and plays an essential role in the overall day to day operations of the centre.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Reception / Administration Assistant position provides reception and administrative services to the Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre. The position is the first point of contact for participants, patients, students, University and hospital staff and general enquiries. It is imperative that all visitors to MAPrc are made to feel welcome and comfortable. The position provides direct administrative support to Research Manager and other MAPrc staff as directed.

Approximately 0.6 of this position will include reception responsibilities along with other duties. 0.4 of this position will be dedicated to administrative duties including HR and financial responsibilities.

The position reports to the Centre Manager (MAPrc - Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre).

The position is located at Level 4, 607 St Kilda Road, Melbourne.

QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Education & Certification:

• Associate degree or certificate qualification with relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of relevant knowledge, training and experience.

• A demonstrated capacity to work in a collegiate and co-operative manner with other staff in the workplace

• High level skills and expertise using a variety of software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel email and the internet.

• Sound organisation skills and a willingness and ability to manage constant interruptions to work flow and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Ability to use initiative to seek solutions to problems and make recommendations.

• Experience working in hospital and or university environment desirable

• Experience working with people living with mental illness desirable
