Alfred Mental and Addiction Health is responsible for the operation of services which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.

Services are provided by a number of teams located at the Alfred Hospital (Commercial Road, Prahran) and at St Kilda Road Clinic in St Kilda, Prevention and Recovery Care (PARC) in South Yarra, Alma Road CCU (ARCC) in St. Kilda, the Child & Adolescent Service located in Moorabbin and Aged Psychiatry based at Caulfield Hospital. Alfred Mental and Addiction Health also works in partnership with relevant local non-government and social support agencies.


This position is part of a state wide DHHS funded Post Discharge Support Initiative aimed at:

  • Building the Peer Workforce in Victorian Mental Health Services
  • Reducing readmission rates to inpatient units for consumers who are at high risk of an unplanned 28 day readmission
  • Connecting individuals to the communities in which they reside to support re-establishment of daily life
  • Achieving more efficient and collaborative transitions to the community following an acute psychiatric admission
  • Support will be based on a non-clinical, supportive intervention model


Formal qualifications are not mandatory for this role but may be helpful.

  • Certificate IV in Peer Work
  • Cert IV in Mental Health
