  • Fixed term appointment until 30 June 2022

Alfred Health’s Physiotherapy Service encompasses the services provided at The Alfred, Sandringham and Caulfield Hospitals. The teams work closely together to provide consistently high quality and equitable service across the continuum of care.

The Alfred and Sandringham services provide care across 5 specialist streams to a large number of complex and state-wide clinical services. The Caulfield Physiotherapy service provides specialist subacute rehabilitation and ambulatory services across inpatient and in-home substitution models of care. The combined EFT of the service is more than 100EFT with close to 200 staff members.

The Alfred Health Physiotherapy Department is a major partner in the provision of undergraduate Physiotherapy clinical placements from both La Trobe and Monash Universities. The Physiotherapy team has a strong commitment to professional development, research and the ongoing provision of excellence in care.


The Senior Physiotherapist - Health of the Older Person (HOP) will be responsible for the provision of high quality subacute physiotherapy services to geriatric rehabilitation patients. As a member of the Physiotherapy Health of the Older Person (HOP) stream, the successful applicant will build strong relationships with geriatricians, nursing and allied health leads to foster and deliver high quality care. As a rotating position, the successful applicant will provide service to inpatients in ward based beds at Caulfield Hospital, and/or to inpatients in a bed-substitution model in their own homes 'Better at Home'.

You will be part of an enthusiastic team of Physiotherapists and Allied Health Assistants, and receive high quality supervision and support from our senior staff. There is a strong culture of support for ongoing professional development and education, and opportunities to participate in quality improvement projects and/or research. The Senior Physiotherapist (HOP) may have the opportunity to support and supervise grade 1 Physiotherapists, Allied Health Assistants and undergraduate Physiotherapy students.  The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of geriatric rehabilitation, excellent communication skills and a flexibile approach to service provision.


  • A Bachelor or Masters degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent
  • Relevant clinical experience in both geriatric and/or rehabilitation settings
  • Proven ability and commitment to work collaboratively with patients and their carers in a person-centred framework
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and negotiation skills
