The Department

Monash School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine is a teaching and research unit of the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences and is centred at the Alfred Hospital Campus. The Centre of Cardiovascular Research and Education in Therapeutics (CCRET) undertakes a broad range of clinical and applied research, from clinical trials to health services research and health economics, predominantly in (but not limited to) cardiovascular and related diseases. It houses major clinical registries in cardiovascular diseases, which not only support research but also inform the quality and safety of clinical care, including the National Cardiac Registry (NCR).  The aim of the NCR is to harness insights from national cardiac data to drive better outcomes for all Australians.

The Role

The Project Manager is responsible for managing the ongoing operations of the National Cardiac Registry. The Commonwealth Department of Health and Australian Commission on Safety & Quality in Healthcare have prioritised development of the National Cardiac Registry; a clinical quality registry, specifically for cardiac devices and procedures. The National Cardiac Registry complements existing state-based registries and operates within a federated model that oversees the participation of all States and Territories. The position sits within a very supportive state-based registry team, and is responsible for managing and working closely with project stakeholders, both internal and external across State and Commonwealth health departments, clinical networks and other state-based registries and external consultants as required. The Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of project management, including delivery of the project in accordance with agreed timeframes, budget and desired strategic business outcomes.

The appointee will have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in a health discipline or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or
  • Extensive project management experience and management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training

  • Knowledge of the Australian public and private hospital and health system environments, encompassing both research and clinical aspects
  • Knowledge of clinical quality registries and their use as a tool for clinician engagement and quality improvement

This Project Manager role will provide the successful applicant an opportunity to contribute to the development of one of the most important national health registries and be exposed to a range of state/territory and federal government stakeholder groups. Additionally, they will be part of a highly skilled team where every day will be different.
