The Department

The Alfred Health Continence Service (AHCS) is a specialist multidisciplinary clinical service within the Home, Acute and Community program of Alfred Health. It provides comprehensive assessment and management of bowel, bladder, and pelvic floor dysfunction in adults. It also provides specialised investigations including bladder ultrasound, uroflowmetry and video urodynamics. It has a community focus with services provided through outpatient clinics and community visits in the local government areas of Port Phillip, Glen Eira and Stonnington.  The AHCS also provides support to the inpatients of Caulfield Hospital.

The Role

As the Senior Continence and Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist, you will:

  • Provide high quality physiotherapy services to clients of the AHCS and advice to clients of Alfred Health with continence and/or pelvic floor issues
  • Foster excellence in the delivery of physiotherapy services to clients of the AHCS
  • Contribute to the management, research, and quality improvement activities of the AHCS
  • Provide high level clinical supervision to physiotherapists and physiotherapy students (postgraduate and undergraduate) attending the AHCS
  • Take responsibility of portfolios relevant to your interest and expertise 

 

Essential Qualifications           

  • Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Post graduate qualification in Continence and/or Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy
  • Current Physiotherapy Registration via the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency

Essential Experience

  • Extensive clinical experience in the physiotherapy management of incontinence, vaginal prolapse, pelvic floor rehabilitation and related conditions
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Proven ability to manage effectively the clinical physiotherapy caseload across the designated service
  • Extensive experience in supervision and professional development of physiotherapists, support staff and/or physiotherapy students
  • Evidence of previous involvement in the development, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement strategies
  • Evidence of previous involvement in clinical research
  • Demonstrated ability to manage statistical data, including measuring outcomes and processes 

Desirable Qualifications

  • Additional training in pessary fitting and management
  • Member of the Continence Foundation of Australia (CFA) and CFA Physiotherapy Group
  • Member of Australian Physiotherapy Association Continence and Women’s Health Group
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
