ABI Rehabilitation Centre, Caulfield Hospital, Alfred Health
Alfred Health's Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Rehabilitation Centre provides rehabilitation services for people with moderate to severe acquired brain injuries including traumatic brain injuries, stroke, hypoxic brain injuries and other causes of non-progressive brain injury. The service is comprised of a 36-bed inpatient rehabilitation service, a community rehabilitation service and a 4-bed transitional living service.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and skilled allied health assistant to provide therapy support services to individuals and groups as directed by the Allied Health Professional/s with which they work. The Allied Health Assistant (AHA) works as part of the interdisciplinary team to provide a flexible and responsive service that works to meet each client’s identified therapeutic goals. The AHA is a generic position and will work with all allied health disciplines within the ABI team. This position may involve working with clients on the in-patient ward and/or within the community. The AHA will also be responsible for administrative and cleaning duties. Effective time management, communication and interpersonal skills are required. Alfred Health’s ABI Service provides you with access to regular clinical supervision, opportunities for continued professional development and being part of a friendly and supportive team.
- Recognised Certificate III or IV in Health (Allied Health Assistant)
- Ability to relate to and treat clients with an ABI including those from a variety of social and ethnic backgrounds
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills to enable effective liaison within an interdisciplinary team
- Positive approach to teamwork and willingness to undertake a broad range of clinical and non-clinical duties
- Ability to supervise or co-supervise AHA students if and when applicable
