The Department
Alfred Health Allied Health Services comprises several allied health disciplines that provide patient-centred care across all clinical programs that operate at Alfred Health. Allied health disciplines provide patient centred care that will aim to optimise physical, psychosocial, communication and cognitive functioning. To ensure that the allied health workforce is fit for purpose, there is a robust governance structure that provides oversight of staff & student education, research, workforce innovation and quality & safety.
The Social Work Department operates in accordance with the philosophy and goals of The Alfred. A focus on quality of life and participation in care is a primary goal of the Department.
-The Family Violence Program
Family Violence is a serious health issue which has a profound impact on the psychological and physical well-being of victim-survivors. Alfred Health recognises that a health service is often the first point of contact for people who have experienced family violence and, healthcare professionals are in a unique position to identify and respond to family violence Alfred Health is committed to implementing a whole-of-health approach, informed by and aligned to the MARAM framework and SHRFV, to support embedding practices of identifying and responding to family violence experienced by patients and their families. The Family Violence Program's key objectives are to increase staff competence, develop and share resources build hospital capacity across the service, respond to family violence and improve outcomes for patients and families who have experienced family violence. The Family Violence Program plays a key role in coordinating activities across the service that mitigate risk and increase safety for patients and their families.
The Position Summary
This important role will work collaboratively to further develop and meet the objectives of the Family Violence Program at Alfred Health and, support a whole of health response to Family Violence. A key focus of this role is to deliver expert support and advice to teams across the health service and provide family violence clinical leadership to the program and service. You will work collaboratively to increase staff competence, develop and share resources and build capacity to enhance identification and responses to family violence, improving outcomes for patients and families who have experienced family violence. In this role you will have the opportunity to further develop your leadership, clinical and specialist family violence practice through key clinical activities, delivery of clinical education and lead key quality improvement projects.
The Family Violence Clinical Lead will work cohesively with the Family Violence Program Lead and Social Work manager to form the Family Violence leadership responsible for developing the priorities and strategic planning for Family Violence across all areas of the organisation.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of the family violence policy and service delivery environment in Victoria, and how to apply this in a healthcare setting including relevant legislation and practice; Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme (FVISS), Child Information Sharing Scheme (CISS) and the Family Violence Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management Framework (MARAM)
- MARAM Risk Assessment training and experience conducting MARAM risk assessments, safety planning and management with patients and family members
- Experience in developing and delivering clinical family violence education
- Experience in providing supervision, clinical leadership and secondary consultation
- Experience working in a clinical role with people affected by family violence, informed by relevant theoretical frameworks
- Understanding of and ability to engage with services working with perpetrators of family violence for the purpose of service linkage and referral
