Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory, to inpatient and home and community based services.
The Vascular Laboratory provides non-invasive diagnostic ultrasound services to both inpatients and outpatients of the Alfred Hospital. The department provides services to a number of clinical units throughout the hospital and forms part of the Vascular Surgery Department. The department is staffed by qualified vascular sonographers, student vascular sonographer and trainee vascular sonographers.
The role of the Senior Vascular Sonographer is to provide a peer review service to the laboratory focusing on quality measures and education requirements. The position also entails supervision of trainee technicians. The role will include reviewing historical scans and reports to ensure clinical protocols are being followed consistently and correctly, identifying any areas of substandard practice whilst making recommendations for improvement. The role will provide ongoing constructive feedback.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Full accreditation with the Australasian Sonographers Accreditation Registry (ASAR)
Diploma in medical ultrasound (vascular) or equivalent vascular specific post graduate qualification
Experience working in a vascular ultrasonography service at a level commensurate with a senior position
Experience of supervising trainees and students
Experience of developing clinical protocols and guidelines
Working towards qualifications related to clinical tutorship or teaching
Experience of formal teaching in a health setting
Experience in general sonography
